The Foundation and Management Authority have confirmed that teachers at partner schools will be paid a fixed salary of Rs. 20,000 and continue to receive this during summer breaks.
Before, educators at these institutes were paid between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 8,000 a month, and during summer holidays, their pay would usually be withheld.
Still, the School Education Department has set new rules for employees, requiring them to receive their full cash part during the time off.
Even during holidays, members of the PEF administration will check high-school partner schools to watch for compliance. Failing to pay staff correctly will result in either a financial penalty or a terminated partnership.
Partner schools have been told to keep all salary records online. There are more than 10,000 PEF and PEIMA schools functioning in Punjab, with 30,000 teachers as permanent staff, state officials say.
The choice is to give teachers financial security and safeguard their rights, since schools may be closed for long breaks.
