Government Issues Notification to Ban TLP

Islamabad (October 24, 2025): The Ministry of Interior has officially issued a notification to ban the political party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

According to the details, the federal cabinet had approved the decision a day earlier. The new notification states that the government believes TLP is involved in acts of terrorism.

The notification further mentions that under the Anti-Terrorism Act, the Interior Ministry has declared TLP a banned organization and ordered it to be added to the First Schedule.

The approval for the ban was given during a meeting of the federal cabinet held on Thursday evening, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, officials briefed the cabinet that the party, which was founded in 2016, had been responsible for spreading unrest across the country. It was also highlighted that during TLP’s violent protests and rallies in the past, security officers and innocent civilians had lost their lives.

Sources said TLP has been accused of spreading chaos, challenging state authority, and being involved in violent protests, arson, and damaging private property. The organization also faces cases related to promoting sectarianism and attacking police officers.
