Registration of Newborn Babies NADRA Announces a Major Decision

Lahore: NADRA has taken a big step regarding the registration of newborn babies, and now every child will be registered on the same day they are born.

According to details, the Punjab Local Government Department has decided that all babies born in government or private hospitals will be registered with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on the day of birth.

This new system has been launched through a joint effort by the Health Department and NADRA to make the registration process faster and more efficient.

The Municipal Department said that the aim of this plan is to remove delays and issue the child’s registration certificate (B-Form / CRC) right on the birth date.

NADRA has stated that the B-Form or Child Registration Certificate (CRC) is compulsory for every child. Without it, the child cannot apply for a passport, board exams, or various legal procedures.

For getting a B-Form, parents must have a valid NIC or NICOP, and a birth document from the Union Council is required for verification.

Under the new rules, children up to three years old do not need a photo or biometric data. Children between three and ten years must provide a photo and, if available, an iris scan.

For children aged ten to eighteen, fingerprints, a photograph, and an iris scan will be mandatory. Each child will receive a separate CRC with a specific validity period.

B-Form Fee Structure
• Normal application: Rs. 50, processing time seven days
• Executive application: Rs. 500, processing time one day

This decision is expected to make the newborn registration process easier and also help complete the digital national database more accurately.
