Washington (January 13, 2026): US President Donald Trump has cancelled all meetings with Iranian officials and has openly urged the Iranian public to increase their protests.
In a post shared on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Make Iran Great Again. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian authorities.” He also encouraged protesters in Iran to continue their demonstrations, saying that “help is on the way” and calling on them to strengthen their movement and take control of public institutions.
Before Trump’s statement, the US Central Command announced the launch of a new Air and Missile Defense Cell in Qatar. A joint regional defense operations center was also inaugurated at Al Udeid Air Base to strengthen collective security efforts in the Middle East.
According to US Central Command, the new cell will improve coordination among regional partners and enhance air and missile defense cooperation. Officials said this step will significantly boost regional security and defense readiness.
Meanwhile, protests in Iran are growing stronger due to rising inflation and an ongoing economic crisis. In this tense situation, the United States has warned Tehran that it could take military action if attempts are made to suppress protesters through force.
In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei praised rallies held in support of the government. He said that the Iranian nation is strong, aware, and united.
He warned the United States to stop what he described as deceptive actions. Khamenei stated that large public rallies have defeated what he called foreign conspiracies and accused external forces of using internal agents to destabilize the country.
He further added that a “power-hungry individual” cannot decide the future of the entire world and should reflect on what has happened to past rulers who once stood at the peak of power.
