GWADAR: A passenger bus traveling from Karachi to Jiwani met with a tragic accident near Gwadar, resulting in the death of nine people and injuries to at least 36 others.
According to officials, the bus overturned on the Makran Coastal Highway close to Gwadar. The accident was severe, leaving nine passengers dead on the spot, while dozens were injured.
As soon as the incident was reported, Coastal Highway Police and other law-enforcement agencies reached the scene. Rescue teams pulled bodies and injured passengers out of the damaged bus and shifted them to Ormara Hospital. Hospital sources said that at least seven injured passengers are in critical condition.
Police stated that the crash was extremely serious, and the bus roof was completely torn apart due to the impact. Most of the passengers on board were residents of Sindh province who were traveling to Jiwani in search of work.
In a separate incident earlier, a passenger truck lost control due to heavy fog near Gulha Pur Bangla in Sargodha and fell into a canal.
Rescue officials said the truck was carrying 23 passengers who were traveling from Islamabad to Faisalabad to attend a funeral. The injured and deceased were shifted to THQ Hospital Kot Momin.
Authorities added that the canal was closed for cleaning at the time of the accident, which is why there was no water in it.
