Iran War: Big setback for Trump as top official resigns

The Trump administration has faced a major setback related to the Iran war, as a senior official has stepped down from his position.

According to international media reports, Joe Kent, Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, resigned in protest over the situation.

In his statement, Kent said that Iran did not pose any immediate threat. He claimed that the war was started due to pressure from Israel and its strong lobbying groups, rather than a real security risk.

So far, the White House has not given any official response to his resignation.

Joe Kent was responsible for leading the agency that analyzes and tracks terrorism threats. His role included assessing risks and helping prevent possible attacks.

Before joining the Trump administration, Kent had run twice for Congress in Washington state but was unsuccessful. He also served in the military as a Green Beret, completing 11 deployments, and later worked with the CIA.

It is also worth noting that his wife, Shannon Kent, was killed in 2019 during a suicide bombing in Syria.
