Stormy Rain in Karachi: Death Toll Rises to 19, More Than 30 Injured

Karachi (March 19, 2026): Heavy stormy rain that hit Karachi last night caused several tragic incidents, raising the total number of deaths to 19, while more than 30 people were injured.

According to reports, strong winds and thunderstorm brought heavy rainfall across the city on Wednesday night. Winds blowing at around 97 km/h caused serious damage. Roofs were blown away, walls collapsed, and many electric poles and trees were uprooted.

The most tragic incident happened in Baldia, Moach Goth, where a wall fell due to strong winds during the rain. As a result, 13 people lost their lives. The District Commissioner of Keamari said that the victims were standing near the wall to take shelter from the rain when the accident happened.

In Quaidabad, a house roof collapsed, killing a husband and wife. In Landhi near Yar Muhammad Goth, one person died after being struck by lightning. In Korangi No. 5, near Tasleem Ground, a man lost his life when a tree fell on him.

Another incident occurred near Korangi 3½ area, where a house roof collapsed, killing a woman and injuring four others. In Bhains Colony, Piran Goth, a four-year-old girl died after a roof fell on her. In Malir No. 4, Bhains Colony, three people were injured when the roof of a cattle shed collapsed.

Rescue sources said that two people were injured in Clifton after a tree fell. In PECHS, a hospital wall collapsed onto parked vehicles. Another tree-fall incident in Clifton injured two more people, while in Machar Colony, a house roof also collapsed.

Due to the severe weather conditions, Civil Aviation authorities stopped light aircraft operations, including Cessna planes. Flight operations at Karachi Airport were also temporarily suspended.
