Iran War De-escalation Efforts: Possible Peace Talks in Islamabad Next Week

Islamabad (March 24, 2026): Pakistan is showing strong interest in promoting peace in the region, and there is a possibility that Islamabad may host important talks next week to help stop the conflict involving Iran.

According to a report by a Turkish news agency, sources from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that a US delegation could arrive in Pakistan within the next one or two days to take part in these discussions.

Al Jazeera also reported that the US negotiation team might be led by Vice President J.D. Vance. The team is expected to include former President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and advisor Jared Kushner.

On the other side, Iran’s delegation is likely to be led by the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

The report mentions that Iran has not fully agreed to the talks yet due to a lack of trust. However, backdoor diplomatic efforts are currently ongoing to convince Iran to join the negotiations. Pakistan, Türkiye, and Egypt are said to be working together to support these efforts.

Meanwhile, in a conversation with CNN, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said that Pakistan is always ready to host such talks if all parties agree.

He further explained that Pakistan is committed to reducing tensions in the region and supports peaceful diplomatic solutions. However, any final decision about holding these talks will depend on the willingness of all involved countries.
