Reports of attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure

Tehran: Iranian media has reported that gas facilities and a pipeline were targeted in recent attacks, which are being linked to Israel and the United States. These reports came at a time when the US President appeared to step back from earlier threats of attacking Iran’s power system.

According to the Iranian news agency Fars, the attacks hit a gas administration building and a gas pressure regulation station in Isfahan. These sites are considered important parts of Iran’s energy system.

Initial reports suggest that the facilities in central Iran suffered only partial damage. However, the full extent of the damage has not yet been clearly confirmed.

Another report stated that a gas pipeline connected to the Khorramshahr power plant in southwestern Iran was also targeted. Local officials said that a shell landed near the pipeline’s processing station, but no detailed information about the level of damage has been shared so far.

It is important to note that just a day earlier, former US President Donald Trump had said that relations with Iran were “going very well.” This statement came after talks were announced with Tehran and a five-day pause was declared regarding possible strikes on Iran’s power plants.

Trump’s sudden change in tone came only hours before the end of a two-day ultimatum. In that warning, he had said that if Iran did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, its power plants could be targeted.

Meanwhile, Iranian media denied reports that any negotiations were taking place to end tensions between the two sides.

At the same time, global oil prices have started to rise due to the increasing uncertainty and fears of further conflict in the region.
