Heavy Rain and Storm Alert Across Pakistan Until March 30

Islamabad (March 24, 2026): The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert, warning of strong winds, heavy rain, and possible hailstorms across the country from today until March 30.

According to the department, a new weather system of western winds is entering the southwestern parts of Balochistan today. This system is expected to become stronger by March 27 and may continue until March 30. During this period, temperatures are also likely to drop.

Because of this system, many areas in Pakistan may experience rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds at different times over the next few days. In some places, hailstorms are also expected. There is also a risk of landslides in mountainous areas.

Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs) have warned that strong winds could damage weak buildings and structures, while heavy rain may harm crops. People have been advised to take safety measures.

Punjab and Islamabad:

Cities including Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, and Gujranwala may see rain with thunderstorms and hail at intervals.

In addition, areas like Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Pakpattan, Okara, Kasur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan are expected to receive rain and storms between March 25–26 and again from March 28–30.

Sindh:

Cities such as Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Dadu, Kashmore, Jacobabad, and Larkana may experience rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds between March 25–26 and March 28–29.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:

Areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Malakand, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Balakot, Haripur, Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, and Kohat are likely to receive heavy rain and snowfall in mountainous regions.

Other districts like Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan may also see rain and snowfall from March 25 to 30.

Balochistan:

Regions including Panjgur, Turbat, Kech, Awaran, Makran Coast (Gwadar, Pasni, Ormara), Lasbela, Khuzdar, Kharan, Chagai, Dalbandin, Kalat, Sibi, Kohlu, and Barkhan are expected to receive heavy rain, storms, and possible hail.

Meanwhile, areas such as Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Mastung, and nearby regions may also face rain with strong winds and snowfall in higher areas.

Authorities have warned that landslides could occur in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. There is also a risk of flooding in local streams and rivers in Balochistan and KP.

Public Advisory:

Tourists and travelers are advised to remain careful and avoid unnecessary travel during this period.

Strong winds and hailstorms may damage weak structures like electricity poles, billboards, and solar panels. Farmers are also warned that standing crops in Punjab, KP, and Sindh could be affected. They are advised to take steps to protect their crops according to the current weather conditions.
