Government makes important decision about smart lockdown

Islamabad: The government has decided not to impose a smart lockdown in the country.

According to reports, this decision was made during a meeting chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari. All participants agreed that a smart lockdown would not be implemented at this time.

Sources said that the proposal was rejected mainly because different provinces did not support it. The chief ministers from all four provinces opposed the idea of enforcing a smart lockdown.

It was also reported that there was no agreement on using smart lockdown as a way to save energy. Due to this lack of consensus, the government decided to move towards alternative measures instead.

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had already said that no final decision had been made regarding a smart lockdown.

After attending the meeting at the President House, he spoke to the media and explained that provinces had different opinions on the issue. In the end, it was agreed that no step should be taken that could harm economic activities.

He further added that they would not support any policy that goes against the public.
