The United States Central Command has released a video showing an operation against an Iranian-flagged cargo ship.
According to reports from Washington on April 20, 2026, the video shows US Marines taking control of a commercial ship in the Gulf of Oman. The US military also shared footage claiming that the ship’s crew was given continuous warnings for six hours before the operation.
The US said the crew refused to follow instructions, which led to the action. This is said to be the first such incident after the blockade of Iranian ports, and it has increased tensions again between United States and Iran.
On the other hand, Iran has strongly criticized the move and called it a violation of the ceasefire. Iranian officials have also warned that they will respond firmly to this action.
Reports say that US forces stopped a ship named “MV Tusk” while it was traveling from the northern Arabian Sea toward Iran’s port city Bandar Abbas.
According to the US Department of Defense, a guided missile destroyer, USS Spruance, fired at the ship’s engine room using a 5-inch MK-45 gun, disabling it. After that, Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit boarded the ship and took control.
The operation was also shared on the social media platform X. The US said that Marines flew from the ship USS Tripoli by helicopter and reached the cargo vessel in the Arabian Sea.
The Marines reportedly boarded the ship using ropes on April 20 after the vessel ignored repeated warnings for hours. The US claims the action became necessary after the ship continued to violate the naval blockade.
However, Tehran has called the incident “maritime piracy” and strongly condemned it. In a statement, Iranian military officials said that the US carried out an aggressive act by attacking a commercial ship and damaging its navigation system.
They warned that the armed forces of Iran would soon respond to this act and take revenge.
