PM Shehbaz Launches ‘Apna Ghar Scheme’, Announces 500,000 Homes Across Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a major housing plan to provide 500,000 homes across Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to reports, the “Apna Ghar Scheme” has officially started. A launching ceremony was held in Islamabad where the Prime Minister distributed cheques to successful applicants.

While speaking at the event, the Prime Minister said that providing shelter to citizens is one of the most important responsibilities of any government. He added that many people in Pakistan still do not have their own homes, and helping them is a top priority.

He shared that in the first year, 321 billion rupees have been allocated to finance 50,000 houses. The government aims to complete 500,000 homes within the next four years.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that people from Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are among those receiving support. He said he will personally review the progress of the scheme every month.

He explained that the project was launched after consultation with government officials and the private sector. The scheme will be implemented across Islamabad, all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.

He further said that the loan process under the scheme has been made simple so more people can benefit. A lot of effort has been made to ensure the success of this project.

The Prime Minister added that the construction sector plays a key role in strengthening the economy. The government is also supporting exporters to boost economic growth.

He also shared that top exporters have been given the status of honorary ambassadors and have received blue passports for two years.
