Babar Azam Reacts After Winning First PSL Title as Captain

Lahore (May 4, 2026): Babar Azam has shared his reaction after winning his first Pakistan Super League (PSL) title as a captain with Peshawar Zalmi.

In a message posted on social media, Babar thanked Allah and praised his team for their hard work. He said that even in tough situations, the team stayed united, and this victory is the result of their strong effort and teamwork.

He also remembered his early days and said, “There was a time when I stood near the ground and picked up balls. I used to dream of moments like this.”

Babar shared an inspiring message for young players. He said if any ball boy watching this success picks up a bat and believes he can become a cricketer, then this victory will feel complete for him.

The captain gave credit for this success to his family, the team management, and his friends who supported him during difficult times.

It is important to note that on Sunday at Gaddafi Stadium, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Hyderabad Kings Men in the Pakistan Super League Season 11 Final. With this win, Zalmi lifted the trophy for the second time after a long gap of nine years. Their first title came in 2017 under the captaincy of Darren Sammy.

In the final match, Babar’s decision to field first proved to be correct. Despite a careful half-century by Saim Ayub, Hyderabad Kings Men were all out for just 129 runs in 18 overs.

While Zalmi’s top order struggled early, a strong partnership of 85 runs between Aaron Hardie and Abdullah Shafique helped the team secure the victory.
