Sindh Govt Announces Rs3,000 Financial Support for Children Up to 5 Years Old

The Sindh government has decided to provide financial support of Rs3,000 every three months for children from birth to five years old under a social protection program.

The decision was made during the third meeting of the Sindh Social Protection Authority Board, chaired by Murad Ali Shah. Several important steps were approved to expand social welfare programs across the province.

During the meeting, new cash assistance was approved for around 885,000 children and rural women. A major project worth Rs14 billion for early childhood development was also approved.

Under this new plan, children from birth to the age of five will receive Rs3,000 every quarter to support their growth and basic needs.

The Chief Minister said that the government will ensure regular monitoring of children’s development, provide nutrition guidance, and help improve educational readiness. He also said that rural women will receive monthly financial support during non-productive periods.

Officials explained that the Stability Fund was created to protect rural women from debt and food insecurity. According to the briefing, the Mumtaz Program has already become active in 22 districts and is benefiting more than one million people. Different social protection programs are currently running with a budget of Rs56 billion.

The board also approved a new hybrid payment system to ensure mothers receive payments on time. Full and partial payments for pregnant women and young children were also approved.

The meeting further decided to expand the program to underdeveloped areas of Karachi and Hyderabad. Seven more districts will also be added to the Mumtaz Program, and “Mumta Desk” centers will be established in district and taluka headquarters hospitals.

In addition, the board approved the formation of audit, human rights, legal, and research committees to improve transparency. A budget of Rs2.29 billion for the fiscal year 2026-27 was also approved.

The Sindh Chief Minister said that empowering women and children is one of the government’s top priorities. He added that the government is investing in the future of the province by improving health, nutrition, and financial stability.
