A new survey has revealed that many Americans believe the alleged assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump may have been fake.
According to foreign media reports, one out of every four Americans thinks the incident during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was not real. The survey was conducted by NewsGuard between April 28 and May 4.
Reports said that nearly one-third of Democrats also took part in the survey. Many young Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 believed the attack was staged or fake. On the other hand, older Americans mostly believed the attack was real.
The survey also showed that around 32% of Americans were still unsure and could not decide whether the incident actually happened or not.
Meanwhile, the suspect accused of attacking Trump denied all charges in court.
The White House reacted strongly to the survey results and rejected conspiracy theories linked to the incident. Officials also said that people who believe the attack was fake are spreading false ideas.
