Karachi (May 13, 2026): A female cricketer from the beautiful Kalash community has made history by joining the Pakistan women’s cricket team.
Saira Jabeen became the first cricketer from the Kalash Valley to debut for the Pakistan women’s team. She started her international career during the first Women’s T20 match against Zimbabwe.
The 25-year-old player belongs to the famous Kalash tribe located in Chitral district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, near the Hindu Kush mountain range.
Saira Jabeen is currently studying at Kinnaird College in Lahore. She is a batting all-rounder and had already impressed many people with her strong performances for the Strikers team in domestic women’s cricket. However, in her first international match, she scored five runs.
Meanwhile, her family expressed great happiness after her selection in the national team.
Speaking through a video link from their village, Saira’s mother thanked Allah and said she was extremely proud of her daughter for reaching the Pakistan team. She added that Saira has a bright future ahead.
Her brothers also shared their excitement and said they had been waiting for this special day for a long time. They said Saira would make Pakistan proud and thanked the PCB for giving her this opportunity.
Talking about this unforgettable moment, Saira Jabeen said her family played a huge role in helping her reach this stage. She said her parents and siblings supported her dream from the beginning, and without them, she could not have achieved this success.
She also said that being selected for the national team was a very special and surprising moment for her.
