Electricity consumers will receive a small relief in their power bills during June 2026, according to the Power Division.
The Power Division announced that consumers will get a benefit of 20 paisas per unit this month. According to the official statement, the monthly fuel adjustment increased by Rs1.73 per unit, while the quarterly adjustment remained negative at Rs1.93 per unit.
Since the quarterly relief is greater than the monthly increase, consumers will still receive an overall benefit of 20 paisas per unit. Electricity rates in June will remain almost unchanged compared to the rates from January to May 2026.
The Power Division said that the reduction of Rs1.93 per unit under the quarterly adjustment will provide total relief of around Rs65 billion. Lower transmission losses and higher electricity demand also helped create this relief for consumers.
The statement further explained that a negative adjustment worth Rs46 billion, compared to the expected base tariff, worked in favor of electricity users.
According to the Power Division, the conflict between Iran and the United States created pressure on global energy markets. Brent crude oil prices were expected to rise from around $70 to nearly $120 per barrel. However, government measures helped protect electricity consumers from a much larger financial burden.
The statement added that a possible increase of Rs5 to Rs6 per unit in April was reduced to only Rs1.73 per unit through timely action. These measures prevented an additional burden of nearly Rs38 billion from being passed on to consumers.
Officials said that limited load management, along with the use of local gas and furnace oil, helped the country manage the energy situation more effectively.
The Power Division also stated that despite global and regional challenges, the government has been successful in keeping electricity prices stable for consumers.
