Pakistan Launches Its First Google Chromebook Assembly Line

Islamabad (November 4, 2025): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has officially opened Pakistan’s first Google Chromebook assembly line.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar called it an important step in Pakistan’s digital journey while speaking at the opening ceremony in Islamabad. He said that local production of Google Chromebooks will make digital tools more affordable, especially for the education sector.

Ishaq Dar also said that this project is not only about education but also holds great economic importance. It will help create jobs, improve supply chains, and set the stage for future technology exports — a true industrial milestone for Pakistan.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that Google’s decision to open a local office in Pakistan is not just symbolic; it’s a proud moment for the nation and a strong sign of Pakistan’s growing digital power. He called it a strategic milestone that will boost the digital economy, strengthen innovation, and increase confidence among global investors.

He mentioned that Google’s local presence will bring it closer to Pakistan’s startups and entrepreneurs. This will lead to more direct collaboration, skill building, and easier access to global platforms.

Under a new strategic MoU, Pakistan and Google will train 100,000 developers across the country. Both sides will also work together to create local AI-powered safety solutions, including improved Android services for public protection.

Ishaq Dar said the government is fully committed to creating an environment where global tech leaders can invest, collaborate, and build sustainable local operations in Pakistan.
