Students suffering from the intense summer heat have finally received good news as the government has officially announced long summer vacations across Punjab.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced the schedule for summer holidays in educational institutions across the province. According to the announcement, schools and colleges will remain closed for nearly three months.
The minister said that summer vacations will begin on May 22 and continue until August 23. During this period, all public and private educational institutions across Punjab will remain closed for academic activities.
Rana Sikandar Hayat shared the announcement through social media.
For the past few weeks, there were many reports suggesting that the government was thinking about reducing summer vacations to cover educational losses and extend the academic calendar.
Just a day earlier, the Punjab Education Minister had stated that the provincial government was seriously considering reducing summer holidays by 15 to 20 days. He explained that several proposals were under review and discussions were being held with different stakeholders before making a final decision.
He had also clarified that no final decision would be taken before the month of May.
