President Donald Trump is reportedly getting more and more upset with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A report in The Wall Street Journal says both leaders are now going in different directions over how to handle the Gaza conflict. Reported by Save Our Pak.
According to the report, Donald Trump thinks Netanyahu is blocking his efforts to reach a peace deal. He believes the Israeli leader’s long military campaign is aimed at forcing Hamas to surrender instead of agreeing to a negotiated ceasefire.
Trump’s anger reportedly grew last week after Israel carried out a strike in Qatar that targeted Hamas negotiators. This move damaged delicate ceasefire talks. Even though Trump showed his strong disapproval in private, he has not yet openly criticised Netanyahu. Instead, he keeps highlighting his role in making the Abraham Accords and continues to work with the Israeli leader.
Benjamin Netanyahu, however, is still focused on launching a major offensive in Gaza City. Trump’s Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, also visited Israel this week but did not give any new public statements, showing Washington’s careful approach.
Experts say Trump is avoiding open criticism of Netanyahu because of both politics and personal ties. Netanyahu still has strong support from Republicans and conservative media in the U.S., which makes Trump cautious.
Observers also point out that Netanyahu’s government has tried to keep good relations with Donald Trump. Recently, Israel even named a seaside promenade after him. Analysts believe this praise, along with Netanyahu’s influence among Republicans, has made Trump slower to increase tensions with Israel’s leadership.
Still, Trump is keeping his focus on Hamas. He has warned that Hamas will face more violence if it does not release hostages and give up its weapons. Analysts note that Netanyahu’s focus on winning battles is opposite to Trump’s wish for a peace deal that he can present as a global success.
Former diplomats think Trump’s current frustration with Netanyahu might not last long. They say Trump likes political wins and personal credit, so he might later claim success for Israeli actions if they work out well.
Right now, Donald Trump is stuck between wanting a diplomatic solution and Netanyahu’s plan for more military action. This shows a growing gap between two leaders who once had one of the closest political partnerships in recent years.
