Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has shared new figures showing that around 1.68 million pilgrims from outside the Kingdom came to perform Umrah during the holy month of Ramadan this year.
According to reports from the Saudi news agency, the ministry stated that about 1.1 million visitors received permits to enter the sacred area of Riyaz-ul-Jannah inside Masjid an-Nabawi (peace be upon him). These visitors belonged to 155 different countries, showing the global importance of this holy place.
The reports also said that around 153,000 services were provided in 11 different languages through 30 Nusuk care centers located in Makkah, Jeddah, and Madinah. These services were aimed at helping pilgrims during their journey and making their experience smooth and comfortable.
In addition, about 197,000 people visited guidance and support centers, which are spread across different areas. The total number of these centers reached 1,966, offering assistance and information to visitors.
During Ramadan, special field monitoring teams carried out 21,500 visits to residential areas. Their goal was to check the quality of services being provided to the pilgrims and make sure everything was properly managed.
Earlier, the Royal Commission for Makkah City and the Holy Sites had also reported that in the first 15 days of Ramadan, nearly 2 million Umrah pilgrims were recorded at the mosques located at different Miqat points around Makkah.
Moreover, the number of vehicles arriving at Makkah (Miqat) from different cities of Saudi Arabia for Umrah during Ramadan reached 291,094, showing a huge flow of pilgrims throughout the holy month.
