Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has clearly said that no one should be confused Aafia Siddiqui is the daughter of Pakistan, and she is the government’s priority, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Monday.
While speaking to the Pakistani community, Ishaq Dar said that the government will keep trying until the matter of Aafia Siddiqui is solved. He also mentioned that when he was asked about PTI founder Imran Khan’s release, he replied that whenever we talk about him, people say the legal process doesn’t allow it.
He explained that even in Imran Khan’s case, there is a legal process. “If someone doesn’t understand English, that’s not my fault,” he said. “The whole world is praising Pakistan’s efforts in America, but now the critics have started speaking against us, so I had to clear things.”
The Deputy Prime Minister also shared that the government had made full efforts and even sent a letter to former U.S. President Joe Biden about Aafia Siddiqui’s case. Just two days ago, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Aafia’s sister.
He added that Pakistan has tried very hard to get Aafia Siddiqui released.
Yesterday, Ishaq Dar clarified that his comments about Aafia Siddiqui’s case were taken out of context. He said this while speaking at the Atlantic Council think tank, where he was asked about Imran Khan. In his answer, he mentioned Aafia’s case to explain his point.
Ishaq Dar said that during the PML-N government, efforts were always made to help free Aafia Siddiqui. The government has used every possible diplomatic and legal way to support her release.
