The Punjab Specialised Healthcare Department has made a new rule that puts strict age limits on doctors who want to do higher studies or medical training. Because of this, many senior doctors working in government hospitals won’t be able to move forward in their careers, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel On Thursday.
According to the new policy, any doctor who is over 40 years old will not be allowed to take part in postgraduate training programs.
Also, doctors who are 45 years old or older cannot apply for the second fellowship program anymore.
This decision will mostly affect senior doctors who have been working for a long time in public hospitals. Even though they have a lot of experience, now they won’t have many chances to grow in their field.
Many healthcare workers and doctors’ associations are not happy with this rule. They are saying that it is unfair and that it might make doctors lose motivation. They also fear it could reduce the number of highly trained specialists in government hospitals.
