Lahore (21 October 2025): Pakistan Railways has taken a major step to improve the safety of trains and passengers after an increase in terrorist incidents.
Because of the rising number of attacks on trains and railway tracks, and the loss of many lives, the railway department has now ordered the installation of jammers in trains. These jammers will help stop remote-controlled explosive devices from being used.
To protect the railway network from any future attacks, officials have decided to install three jammers in every train. They have also ordered to increase security patrols on sensitive railway routes across the country.
This decision was made by the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Railways after the bombing on the Jaffar Express earlier this month on 7 October.
During the meeting, the committee also suggested strong action against land-grabbers occupying railway property. According to officials, Pakistan Railways owns about 16,000 acres of land, but 3,253 acres are illegally occupied, and 457 acres are under the control of powerful groups.
