Big Progress in Talks: JD Vance Praises Pakistan’s Role in Peace Negotiations

US Vice President JD Vance has admitted that major progress has been made in negotiations held with Pakistan’s mediation, which has helped maintain the current ceasefire.

Speaking at an event at the University of Georgia on April 15, 2026, JD Vance said that the US delegation achieved strong results during these talks. He added that this progress is the main reason why the ceasefire is still holding.

He explained that former US President Donald Trump is not looking for a small agreement with Iran, but a major deal. According to him, the discussions moved forward well, but there was a deadlock on the issue of nuclear weapons.

JD Vance said that Trump wants Iran to behave like a normal country. In return, the US would also treat Iran like any other country in economic matters. He made it clear that the main demand is that Iran should not develop nuclear weapons and should stop supporting proxy groups.

He further said that if Iran agrees to these conditions, it can become part of global development and growth. The US is ready to include Iran in the global economy if it gives a clear guarantee that it will not build nuclear weapons.

JD Vance also shared that such high-level talks between the US and Iran, especially involving Islamabad, have not happened in the last 49 years. He said that leaders from Iran sitting with a US Vice President is something very rare, which shows how important these talks are.

He admitted that there is still a lot of mistrust between both countries, and such issues cannot be solved overnight. However, he believes the current progress is a positive step forward.

He added that the ceasefire with Iran is still in place, and Iranian negotiators are also willing to reach an agreement. If Iran promises not to develop nuclear weapons, the US is ready to support its economic growth.

JD Vance concluded by saying that the US will continue negotiations to ensure that Iran does not move toward nuclear weapons and that a deal can be reached for a better future.
