Lahore (February 16, 2026): There is great news for Pakistanis living abroad who own vehicles in the country. They can now complete their biometric verification from the comfort of their homes, no matter where they are in the world.
The Pak ID app has officially been launched in Punjab to make biometric verification easier for vehicle owners. Through this app, overseas Pakistanis will no longer need to travel back to Pakistan for verification. Instead, they can finish the entire process remotely while staying at home.
According to the Director General (DG) Excise, the main goal of this app is to provide convenience to the public and improve transparency in the system. With online verification and payment options, the process of vehicle transfer will become clearer and more efficient. People will also avoid repeated visits to government offices for vehicle registration, transfers, and purchases.
DG Excise Umar Sher Chatha explained that the Excise Department will share its data with NADRA through the Pak ID app. With NADRA’s support, vehicle owners from all four provinces will be able to verify their details online, helping create a unified national database.
He added that in the past, overseas Pakistanis had to give power of attorney and visit embassies to confirm vehicle ownership. Now, this hassle has been removed, making the process much simpler.
The DG Excise also shared that the app will help make ownership transfers easier for Punjab’s nearly 26 million registered vehicles, saving time and effort for citizens.
