India received a big setback just before their Super Four match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
Indian all-rounder Axar Patel faced fitness issues ahead of the crucial match.
Patel got injured during fielding in a Group A match.
While running to catch a ball from Oman’s Hamad Mirza, Axar Patel lost his balance and hit his head on the ground.
He was seen holding his head and neck while leaving the field with the team physiotherapist. He did not return to the field for the remaining overs of the innings.
India’s fielding coach Dilip said that Axar is fine, but he could not confirm immediately whether he would play in the upcoming match.
The first Super Four match of the stage will be held today in Dubai between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, while Pakistan and India will face each other at the same venue tomorrow.
The Pakistani team will play against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi on September 23 after taking a day off.
