Big Update for Citizens, Major Changes Announced in National Identity Card

Islamabad: The government has introduced important changes to the security features of the National Identity Card.

A new official notification has been issued confirming that several security and verification features of the National Identity Card have been updated. These changes aim to improve safety and make the identification process more reliable.

Under the new rules, fingerprint and iris scan verification have now been formally included in the system. This means biometric data will play a stronger role in confirming a person’s identity.

The government has also given legal status to the QR code as an official security and verification feature. With QR-based verification, both offline and online instant verification will now be possible.

The QR code and other new technical features can also be used as an alternative to the microchip. In addition, if a card is suspended for any reason, all linked verification and authentication services will immediately be blocked.

Another important relief has been announced for senior citizens. People who are over 60 years of age will now be able to receive a Smart National Identity Card that remains valid for a lifetime.

These updates are expected to make the identity system more secure, modern, and convenient for the public.
