(October 10, 2025): The ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas has officially come into effect in Gaza.
According to a report by The Times of Israel, the truce in the Gaza Strip formally started at noon. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that under the agreement with Hamas, Israeli soldiers have been pulled back to the agreed deployment lines.
The IDF confirmed that from 12:00 PM local time, its troops have taken new positions according to the ceasefire and hostage-return deal. The army added that its Southern Command units are still stationed in the area and will continue operations to remove any immediate threats.
Under the agreement, Hamas has 72 hours until Monday afternoon to release 48 hostages who are currently in its custody. Reports suggest that about 20 of them are believed to be alive.
Hamas has previously informed mediators that it does not know the exact locations of some dead hostages, which might cause delays in handing over their bodies.
