China has officially supported Pakistan’s proposal for a ceasefire related to Iran and the ongoing tensions in the region.
A spokesperson from China’s Foreign Ministry said that stopping the conflict and starting peace talks is the most important priority right now. Beijing supports all efforts that can reduce tension and bring stability.
The ministry added that China wants a peaceful environment where dialogue can begin again. It emphasized that improving the situation through talks is the best way forward.
China also made it clear that peace in the Middle East and the safety of global trade routes are in the interest of the entire world. It said that using force cannot solve problems, and all parties should come to the negotiation table.
Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, spoke at a press conference and rejected former US President Donald Trump’s claim about possible talks. He clearly stated that there are currently no negotiations happening between Iran and the United States.
He said that Iran has always had a “bad experience” with diplomacy with the US. According to him, whenever talks have started in the past, the US has broken trust.
Baghaei also revealed that during the last nine months, when efforts were being made to restart dialogue, Iran was attacked twice. He called these actions a betrayal of diplomacy.
The spokesperson further said that several countries have offered to act as mediators between Iran and the US. He added that Iran has been receiving continuous messages from different countries in recent days regarding this issue.
