In just three days, the deadly Congo virus has taken the lives of two people in Karachi, Pakistan’s biggest city, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel On Thursday.
According to the report, a 22-year-old young man named Zubair Lakhio, from the Ibrahim Haidri area in Malir district, passed away after fighting the Congo virus for nearly a week.
In another sad incident, Abdul Rauf, who was also from Malir, lost his life to the dangerous Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), according to health officials.
The Sindh Health Department has officially confirmed that both deaths were caused by the Congo virus.
After this, special health teams were sent to the affected areas to check the situation and take action to stop the virus from spreading.
Dr. Imdad Channa, the District Health Officer (DHO) of Malir, said that steps have already been taken to control the spread of the disease.
At the same time, Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza has declared a 15-day health emergency across the district to control the virus. This decision was made quickly to protect more people from getting infected.
A government notice issued on Tuesday said that the emergency will stay in place until June 30. The main goal is to stop the spread of the Congo virus.
The notification also mentioned a complete ban on the movement of cattle between provinces and districts. It also banned the setting up of cattle markets in the area until the emergency is over.
