Islamabad: A local court in Islamabad has ordered the blocking of 27 well-known YouTube channels. The decision came after a request by the FIA (Federal Investigation Agency), as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Tuesday.
Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah heard the case in the Islamabad court regarding the request to block the YouTube channels.
The court released a written order that was two pages long. It stated that the FIA had started an inquiry on June 2 about content that was allegedly against the state. The inquiry officer presented the details, and the court reviewed the available record.
According to the written order, the court said that the evidence shows this matter could be punishable under the PECA Act and the Pakistan Penal Code.
In the decision, the court directed the YouTube officer in charge to completely block the mentioned 27 channels.
As per the written statement, the channels include names like Matiullah Jan, Sabir Shakir, Abdul Qadir, Haider Mehdi, Imran Riaz, Orya Maqbool Jan, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Wajahat Saeed Khan, Sajid Gondal, Asad Toor, Sadaiq Jan, and also channels of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Naya Pakistan, and Daily Qudrat.
