A major clarification has come from Saudi Arabia’s fuel monitoring committee “Waqood”, saying that a slight difference in petrol color does not mean it is low quality, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Thursday.
According to Saudi news sources, a video recently went viral on social media claiming that the color of 91-grade petrol at some petrol stations is not dark enough and may be of poor quality.
In response, the fuel monitoring committee issued a statement explaining that 91 and 95 petrol are colored green and red only to help people tell them apart. The color has nothing to do with the fuel’s quality.
The committee also said that to ensure quality, their teams regularly collect fuel samples from petrol stations and send them for lab testing. This process helps them detect if there’s any mixing or low-quality petrol. The darkness or lightness of the color doesn’t affect the quality.
If people have complaints about petrol quality, they can contact the toll-free numbers provided by the committee. Complaints can also be submitted through the “Khidmat Al-Shuraka” app.
