Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Israel’s past record is not good and that Turkey is worried about the situation in Gaza. He added that the people of Gaza need support to heal their wounds and help with rebuilding the city.
Speaking at the Turkey-Africa Forum, President Erdogan said that Turkey worked very hard to reach a peace deal between Hamas and Israel so that people in Gaza could finally live in peace and stability.
Erdogan also expressed concern about the ongoing crisis in Sudan and said that he wants peace to be restored there as well.
He criticized Western countries, saying that they are watching the conflicts and civil wars in Africa but are doing nothing to stop them.
Earlier, President Erdogan said that Turkey will ask Gulf countries, the United States, and European nations to help rebuild Gaza. He expressed hope that financial support for Gaza would be provided soon.
He also said that Western countries recognizing Palestine is a big step toward a two-state solution. Rebuilding Gaza, he added, is essential for peace and stability in the region.
Erdogan announced that Turkey will join a “task force” to monitor the ceasefire agreement. He said he hopes Turkey will be part of the team that will supervise the implementation of the peace deal on the ground.
