The newly appointed European Union Ambassador to Pakistan, Raimonds Karoblis, has said that the decision about Imran Khan’s release lies entirely with the courts.
While speaking to Geo News, the EU Ambassador said that Pakistan’s demand—that Afghan soil must not be used for terrorism—is completely valid.
According to Karoblis, more information is needed to assess whether the Afghan Taliban have fulfilled their Doha Agreement promises. He added that talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan should continue under Türkiye’s mediation.
He further said that Pakistan’s concerns about the banned TTP are understandable and based on real security issues.
Responding to a question, the Ambassador said that any constitutional amendment is Pakistan’s internal issue, and that the decision regarding the PTI founder’s release is solely the authority of Pakistan’s judiciary.
