A gas bill of more than Rs. 12.3 million shocked a resident of Rawalpindi, leaving him sleepless. However, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) later admitted their mistake, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Thursday.
According to details, a man living in Dhamial, Rawalpindi, received a gas bill of over Rs. 12.3 million, which left him in complete shock and stress.
The affected citizen, Allah Ditta Raja, rushed to the SNGPL office and said, “The gas department is forcing me to pay this bill. How can I pay Rs. 12.3 million for gas?” He added that the bill was issued because he hadn’t paid the gas bill for the last four months.
The spokesperson of SNGPL confirmed that they had received the complaint and the issue is being investigated. At first glance, it looks like the bill amount was the result of a computer error. The company said they would correct the bill and issue a new one soon.
Later, after ARY News reported the story, Sui Northern authorities accepted their mistake and confirmed that it was a technical issue.
They corrected the bill and issued a new one to Allah Ditta Raja, which was Rs. 40,240 only.
Officials said it was due to a computer system error, and the customer had also lost his gas connection last month because of non-payment.
