Heavy Rain and Flood Alert Issued Till July 10 Across Pakistan

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning for heavy rains and possible floods across Pakistan until July 10, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Monday.

According to NDMA’s spokesperson, there is a risk of flooding in rivers and streams across Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. There could be minor flooding at Marala and Qadirabad points of River Chenab.

The spokesperson said that water levels may rise in rivers like Kabul, Indus, Chenab, Swat, Panjkora, Chitral, Hunza, and other streams. Because of heavy rain, northeast Punjab, southern Balochistan, and Azad Kashmir may face flood-like conditions.

There’s also a chance of flooding in small rivers and streams that come from the Poonch region in northeast Punjab. In Azad Kashmir, the Jhelum River and its nearby streams could suddenly flood. In Gilgit-Baltistan, water levels in the Hunza River and local streams might also rise quickly.

The NDMA added that in southern Balochistan, streams coming from the Kirthar range especially in areas like Awaran, Khuzdar, Jhal Magsi, Qila Saifullah, and Musakhel may face flood situations. People are strongly advised not to cross flooded roads, streams, or bridges during heavy flow.

The NDMA has also advised people living in low-lying areas to move their valuable items and livestock to safer places in advance. People living in risky zones should keep emergency kits ready with food, water, and medicines for 3 to 5 days.

All concerned departments have been directed to keep pumps and drainage machines ready for emergency situations. Residents in flood-prone areas should stay updated through TV and mobile alerts for official warnings.

The public is also advised to stay informed about weather updates and risks by using the PAK NDMA Disaster Alert App.
