How Much Tax Is Charged on Imported Mobile Phones? Key Details Revealed

Islamabad (5 December 2025): Important information has been released about the taxes applied on different categories of mobile phones imported into Pakistan.

According to media reports, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) informed the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance that mobile phone taxes include customs duty, mobile levy, regulatory duty, sales tax, and withholding tax. These charges are applied based on the price of each phone.

FBR explained that the actual value of a mobile phone is determined under the valuation ruling system. If the value of a specific model is not available, then the price is calculated using the import record of the last 90 days.

Taxes on mobile phones worth up to $30:

  • Rs 100 mobile levy
  • Rs 300 regulatory duty
  • 18% sales tax
  • Rs 70 withholding tax

Taxes on phones priced between $30 and $100:

  • Rs 200 mobile levy
  • Rs 3,000 regulatory duty
  • 18% sales tax
  • Rs 930 withholding tax

Taxes on phones worth between $100 and $200:

  • Rs 600 mobile levy
  • Rs 7,500 regulatory duty
  • 18% sales tax
  • Rs 970 withholding tax

Taxes on phones priced between $200 and $350:

  • Rs 1,800 mobile levy
  • Rs 11,000 regulatory duty
  • 18% sales tax
  • Rs 5,000 withholding tax

Taxes on phones worth between $350 and $500:

  • Rs 4,000 mobile levy
  • Rs 15,000 regulatory duty
  • 18% sales tax
  • Rs 5,000 withholding tax

Taxes on phones valued above $500:

  • Rs 8,000 mobile levy (and Rs 16,000 if the price exceeds $700)
  • Rs 22,000 regulatory duty
  • 25% sales tax
  • Rs 1,150 withholding tax
