How Much Tax Will You Pay on Online Shopping Now? Budget Reveals the Details

In the new 2025-26 budget, the federal government has suggested an 18% sales tax on online shopping. While presenting the budget speech in the National Assembly, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb shared proposals to change the Sales Tax Act, Reported by Save our Pak news Channal.

He said that the fast growth of online businesses and digital marketplaces is making things difficult for traditional businesses that follow proper tax rules.

To create a fair competition and make sure everyone follows the tax laws, it has been proposed that courier and logistics companies—which deliver products from e-commerce platforms—will collect 18% sales tax from those platforms and then deposit it with the government.

This move is meant to bring equal rules for both online and offline businesses and ensure better tax collection in the growing e-commerce sector.
