The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf for two matches.
According to the ICC, Haris Rauf broke the Code of Conduct during the Asia Cup, and the organization has now announced the penalties. The fast bowler has been given a two-match suspension, a 30 percent match-fee fine, and four demerit points. He will miss the first and second ODIs against South Africa.
Opener Sahibzada Farhan has also received one demerit point and a formal warning for a separate incident.
Meanwhile, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has been fined 30 percent of his match fee and given two demerit points for breaking the ICC’s Code of Conduct, Article 2.21. However, Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh faced no punishment for making an inappropriate gesture on the field.
It is important to note that Suryakumar Yadav gave a political statement after the match against Pakistan, yet the ICC did not suspend him. Many fans are calling this clear favoritism toward India, while Pakistan’s players continue to face strict action.
