Karachi (February 12, 2026): Former cricketers have claimed that even before the big match, the Indian team appears worried about Pakistani spinner Usman Tariq.
Pakistan and India are set to face each other on February 15 in what is expected to be the most high-voltage match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. However, before the game has even started, reports from India are raising questions about Usman Tariq’s bowling action, making it a controversial topic.
Speaking on ARY News’ program Har Lamha Purjosh, former Test cricketer Basit Ali said that it is surprising to see so much noise about Usman Tariq before the match. He stated that the game has not even been played yet, but the discussion around Tariq shows that the Indian team may already be feeling pressure.
Program host Shoaib Malik also shared his opinion. He said that once the umpire has cleared Usman Tariq’s bowling action as legal, there should be no further debate. According to Malik, the criticism is happening because Indian batters are struggling to face him.
He added that whenever a bowler becomes difficult to handle, people often try to find faults in his technique instead of accepting his skill.
Shoaib Malik further explained the ICC rules. He said that according to ICC laws, if a bowler’s arm bend remains within 15 degrees during delivery, the action is considered legal, no matter how unusual it may look.
During the discussion, Najeeb ul Hasnain also read out a tweet by Indian spinner Ravi, who supported Usman Tariq. In the tweet, Ravi questioned why restrictions are only applied to bowlers. He pointed out that batters are free to play switch hits or reverse shots without informing the umpire or bowler in advance, so similar flexibility should be given to bowlers as well.
The debate continues as fans eagerly wait for the much-anticipated Pakistan vs India clash.
