Mumbai (July 29, 2025): A shocking theft took place at the stadium where 261 jerseys belonging to Indian cricketers were stolen. The total value of the missing jerseys is in lakhs of rupees, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Tuesday.
According to Indian media, the incident happened at the official merchandise store of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) located at Wankhede Stadium.
Mumbai police have registered a case against the security manager who allegedly stole the 261 jerseys worth around ₹6.5 lakhs. Police said the accused is a resident of Mira Road East and reportedly entered the store without permission on June 13.
The theft was discovered during a recent audit when the missing stock came to light. After this, BCCI officials checked the CCTV footage and spotted the security manager carrying away a cardboard box.
Later, on July 17, a BCCI employee named Hemang Bharat Kumar, who works at the BCCI office inside the stadium, filed a complaint with Mumbai Police.
Hemang Bharat Kumar claimed that the security manager stole jerseys from multiple IPL franchises, including Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and others.
The police have registered an FIR under Section 306 and started an investigation. Officers said they are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence to trace the stolen jerseys and understand how the incident happened.
