Iran claims arrest of 39 suspects in Tehran intelligence operation

Tehran (March 26, 2026): Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence has claimed that 39 individuals were arrested in Tehran over alleged links with Israel and what officials described as “terrorist groups.”

According to Mehr News Agency, the ministry said that 27 of those arrested belong to two separate groups that have already been declared terrorist organizations by the state. Officials also claimed that one suspect tried to create an operational network using weapons that were earlier seized in the Sistan and Baluchistan province.

During the operation, authorities said they recovered a large amount of weapons and materials. These included 49 homemade bombs, two Kalashnikov rifles, 16 handguns, 50 magazines, and more than 1,500 bullets. Officials also reported the seizure of stun guns, tear gas, Molotov cocktails, explosive substances, and seven Starlink satellite devices.

The ministry stated that two of the suspects were involved in spreading unrest through online activities, while others were accused of spying on the movements and locations of security forces.

These arrests come at a time when tensions in the region remain very high. Since February 28, ongoing airstrikes by the United States and Israel have reportedly caused the deaths of more than 1,340 people. Reports also claimed that former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was among those killed.

In response to these attacks, Iran has reportedly launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and some Gulf countries where US military bases are located. These developments have caused loss of life and property, while also affecting global markets and air travel systems.
