Iran Offers to Mediate Between Pakistan and Afghanistan

Tehran (February 27, 2026): Iran’s Foreign Minister has offered to mediate between Pakistan and Afghanistan as tensions continue to rise between the two neighboring countries. He urged both sides to resolve their differences through dialogue and peaceful negotiations.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the Iranian Foreign Minister said that the holy month of Ramadan is a time of patience, unity, and self-control. He stressed that Pakistan and Afghanistan, as neighboring Muslim countries, should solve their issues through mutual understanding and discussions.

The Iranian Foreign Minister further said that Iran is ready to provide all possible support to help both brotherly Islamic nations start constructive talks. He expressed hope that through dialogue, Pakistan and Afghanistan can improve cooperation and bring stability to the region.

It is important to note that along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, Pakistan has been carrying out Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq in response to what it calls unprovoked actions by the Afghan Taliban regime. According to Pakistani sources, 133 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed and more than 200 were injured in military strikes. In addition, 27 Afghan border posts were reportedly destroyed.

On the other hand, a spokesperson for the Taliban government confirmed airstrikes in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar. Afghan media reported that at around 1:50 AM, a Taliban military center in Kabul was targeted in an airstrike.

Afghan media also stated that in Paktia province, the Taliban’s Mansoori Corps base was bombed twice. It was further reported that after midnight, a Pakistani aircraft was seen flying over Kandahar.
