Islamabad has become the center of global attention as historic peace talks between the United States and Iran are starting today in the capital of Pakistan.
According to reports, this is the first step toward a possible international agreement, often being called the “Islamabad Accord.” The talks are expected to play a very important role in reducing tensions between the two countries.
The meetings may take place either at the Foreign Office or in a private hotel. Today, initial discussions will happen at the delegation level. However, the most important and final phase of the talks is expected to take place tomorrow.
The US delegation is being led by Vice President JD Vance along with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. On the other side, the Iranian team is led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
There are also expectations that countries like China, Russia, and some Gulf nations will attend as observers.
Security in Islamabad has been increased to a very high level around the possible meeting locations. Hundreds of international journalists and media organizations have already arrived in the city to cover this important event, and more are still coming.
Pakistan is now in the global spotlight as it hosts these two long-time rivals in an effort to bring peace. Experts believe that these talks could have a major impact not only on the region but also on global stability.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump warned Iran on social media. He said that if a “real agreement” is not reached, Iran could face severe consequences, including possible military action.
He also ordered US forces to stay ready with aircraft and weapons around Iran. He clearly stated that Iran will never be allowed to have nuclear weapons and that the Strait of Hormuz must remain secure at all times.
