According to a report by Bloomberg, the Israeli military has expressed concern about the use of cluster bomb warheads in Iranian missiles.
The report states that Israeli officials believe some Iranian missiles are equipped with cluster warheads. These missiles release many small bombs when they reach their target, which spreads damage over a much wider area.
Israeli military sources say that the missiles launched by Iran can scatter dozens of small explosive devices. Because of this, the impact is not limited to one point, and a larger area can be affected.
Israeli authorities claim that nearly half of Iran’s missiles may carry cluster-type warheads. These types of weapons are designed to strike a broad zone instead of a single target.
The Israeli army has warned that these smaller bombs could increase the risk of casualties because multiple explosives fall across different locations at the same time.
Defense analysts say Iran may be using this strategy to challenge Israel’s missile defense systems. By spreading many small explosives, Iran could force Israel to use more expensive interceptor missiles, which may create economic and psychological pressure.
Due to this threat, the Israeli military has advised civilians to remain inside shelters for several minutes even after missile sirens stop. Officials say that small bombs from cluster warheads may continue falling for a short time after the main missile strike.
