Moscow: Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has warned that actions aimed at changing governments in different countries by former US President Donald Trump could lead to the start of World War III.
According to international media reports, Medvedev, who is currently the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, spoke in an interview about rising global tensions. When asked whether the Third World War had already begun, he replied that technically it has not started yet.
However, he said that if Trump continues what he described as “reckless and dangerous policies” of regime change in other countries, a global war could become unavoidable. He added that in the current tense situation, even a small incident could act as a trigger for a much larger conflict.
Medvedev also claimed that any attack on Iran by the United States and its allies would be part of a broader strategy to maintain global dominance. He described such actions as part of a larger and dangerous power struggle.
Speaking about Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Medvedev said that killing such a high-profile leader would put Americans at serious risk and would be a major mistake. He further claimed that if such an event happened, Iran would likely increase its efforts to develop nuclear weapons at a much faster pace.
When asked whether Iran could survive war and the loss of its leadership, Medvedev said that rebuilding would be costly but possible. He stated that Iran has strong social unity, and that external pressure could actually strengthen its internal stability.
In response to another question about whether Russia could face a similar attack during negotiations in the future, Medvedev said there is only one guarantee against that. According to him, the United States understands the serious consequences of a nuclear conflict with Russia and knows the heavy price of such a war.
