The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued its decision on the Central Power Purchasing Agency’s (CPPA) request regarding electricity purchase prices for the upcoming fiscal year, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel On Tuesday.
NEPRA has sent a decision to the federal government suggesting a reduction of Rs. 1.02 per unit in the National Average Power Purchase Price for the next fiscal year. For the year 2025-26, NEPRA has set the new average price at Rs. 25.98 per unit, compared to Rs. 27 per unit during the current fiscal year.
For the upcoming fiscal year, a total of Rs. 3,342 billion has been allocated for purchasing electricity. In comparison, NEPRA had estimated Rs. 3,534 billion for the current year.
Except for K-Electric, the power purchase price for the next fiscal year has been set at Rs. 26.34 per unit, which is lower than the current year’s rate of Rs. 27.35 per unit. NEPRA has forwarded this decision to the federal government for further approval under the Uniform Tariff policy.
