Iran has said that the time has come to introduce a new naval system for the Strait of Hormuz.
In Tehran, Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s National Security Committee, stated that under the new system, only ships that pay fees and get approval from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps will be allowed to pass.
He also warned that if the United States creates problems for Iranian ships, the situation in the region can quickly change.
According to officials from Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, the Strait of Hormuz will remain under strict control until restrictions on Iranian vessels are removed.
Earlier, the Revolutionary Guards had already said that due to ongoing blockades by the United States on Iranian ports, control of the strait has returned to its previous strict condition.
A report by Al Jazeera also mentioned that Iran has not relaxed its control over the waterway and is maintaining full authority.
In an official statement, the Revolutionary Guards confirmed that the strait is now under tight control of Iran’s armed forces. The statement also strongly criticized the United States, accusing it of using blockades as an excuse for piracy and illegal actions at sea.
